Visit the Campus!
DePaw University makes its home on the campus of Riverside County's Department of Animal Services Western Riverside shelter campus, located at 6851 Van Buren Blvd in Riverside. This sprawling facility provides state of the art shelter and care to hundreds of homeless animals awaiting reuinion with their family, or adoption by a new family. The campus also includes modern veterinary hospital facilities that rival most private pet clinics.
DePaw University classes meet in any one or more of the three modern indoor Training Centers, the Courtyard or either of the two enclosed exercise, socialization and training areas located to the rear of this beautiful facility.
The campus is secure and easily accessible via surface streets, and is conveniently located just 2 miles south of the 60 freeway for easy access from almost anywhere in Riverside County, and points beyond!
At DePaw University, we strive to provide a well-rounded schedule of classes, appealing to learners of all abilities and all levels. All our programs are based on postive reinforcement and modern methods of training and behavior modification. Our goal is to improve the communication between the human and canine members of the learning team. Our training exercises frequently take the form of games, and the added element of relaxed fun makes the learning experience a uniquely pleasant one for everyone involved. Using this approach, we're successful at involving all the family members, right down to kids aged 5 or 6, safely and productively in the training program.
We do not use physical or verbal corrections, or training tools and methods that are designed to cause pain, discomfort, fear, intimidation or coercion; these tools and methods are forbidden in our programs at all times. While these 'tools' may have formed the foundation of old-fashioned training programs you can probably still find today, modern dog training programs are do not incorporate them.
