Dog First Aid and CPR
Will you know what to do when your dog needs help? Your dog depends on you for his or her well-being. In addition to providing daily care, love and affection, your best friend depends on you in an emergency. Whether your dog becomes ill or injured, or needs help in a disaster, the American Red Cross can help.
Learn basic information on how to recognize and care for emergencies, illness and injuries in dogs. Participants learn rescue breathing, CPR and care for choking dogs, and first aid for bleeding, fractures, poisonings and illness.

Your instructor, Christopher Fielder, is a southern California native. Never without a dog or cat in his life, hes grown up with snakes, rats, tarantulas, hamsters, and a goat as pets. Chris has worked for over 20 years with individuals with developmental disabilities in group home settings, and has worked in a private corporation as the company Director of Safety Operations. Chris has served as the volunteer instructor/shelter manager for the Orange County American Red Cross. Chris is certified to instruct in first aid/CPR, babysitting, California child care, lifeguarding, water safety instructor training and Pet First Aid. Hes also worked as a Defensive Driving Instructor through the National Safety Council and crisis response instructor through CPI.
Chris was selected as one of the top 20 volunteers in Orange and Inland counties for the 1996 Community Hero Torch Bearers, and ran the Olympic torch in 1996 as a result. Chris was selected Volunteer of the Year for OC Red Cross in 1995. Honored at the 32nd annual OC spirit of volunteerism awards, Chris has coached youth football, basketball and baseball for 20 years prior to having his own family. Chris has also worked with the National Dyslexia Research Foundation as a literacy instructor.
Chris lives in Corona, with his wife, Jackie, two kids, Kelleigh and Jack, Golden Retriever Maggie, and Socks the cat!
