With conventional 6- or 8-week dog training classes, almost half the class time is spent doing practices and reviewing material covered in the previous class. That’s nearly 3-4 hours of wasted time! Add to that the time you spend traveling to and from class, and you’ll find you’ve made a substantial investment with little return.
During a conventional 8-week program, it’s almost guaranteed that nearly every student will need to miss at least one class; every missed class increases the likelihood that you’ll drop out altogether, since most classes don’t have make-up sessions that allow you to attend at an alternative time to learn the material you missed.
But Smart Dog training does away with all that! We know that you have a busy schedule these days, loaded with work, commuting, kids’ events, family obligations and lots of other activities. Trying to complete a dog class by adding another chore to your calendar for 2 months may just be more than most people can manage.
Smart Dog training programs take all the information and skills you were meant to learn in a standard class, and concentrates the learning experience into a single 2-hour meeting. You learn all the tools and techniques you need to teach your dog everything he needs to know without the repetitive group practices, demonstrations and weekly reviews.
Smart Dog programs are varied, and there’s something for everyone! Each single-session seminar is only $55. Do-overs (attend the same session again!) are only $30 each!
Smart Dog Basic I teaches you the fundamentals of dog training, including how dogs learn, the correct use of lures and rewards, how to correctly train behaviors and add cues and the most common techniques to get your dog to perform basic behaviors such as sit, down and walk on a loose leash.
Smart Dog Basic II helps you learn how to add duration to your dog’s behaviors, additional loose-leash walking techniques, and adds ‘stay’ and ‘wait’ to your dog’s repertoire. You’ll learn how to fade reinforcement, so your dog’s performance will not be dependant on having a treat in your hand! Your dog will be better focused on you and have more self-control.
Smart Dog Advanced uses fun and games to teach you how to add distractions to ‘proof’ your dog’s training. We’ll also teach you how to vary reinforcements throughout your training program to make it more efficient and effective. Advanced graduates can perform effectively under all kinds of conditions!
Smart Dog Clicker Basic helps you learn the fundamentals of clicker training, including planning your training session, how to correctly mark behaviors and deliver reinforcement. You’ll also know how to incorporate luring into your training program.
Smart Dog Clicker Intermediate builds on your knowledge of clicker training, introduces more practices for timing and accuracy, and shows you how to incorporate targeting into your training program.
Smart Dog Clicker Advanced takes your training skills to the next level, teaching you how to shape behaviors and use your dog’s brain power to accelerate your training program.
Smart Dog Tricks I will have your dog shaking, spinning, dancing and playing dead in one session!
Smart Dog WipeOut! Learn to teach your dog to skateboard in one session!
Smart Dog House Manners includes polite greetings (no jumping up!), counter-surfing counter measures, door-dashing and other good stuff to help ensure your pooch has excellent house manners!
Smart Dog Puppy I gives you all the tools you need to set up for effective housetraining, and curtail all the nasties like play-biting, destructiveness, wild behavior and chewing up the universe. Learn 'sit' and 'down' and more. Have a calmer, more well-mannered puppy in just a few hours!
Smart Dog Puppy II helps you learn how to teach your pup everything he needs to know, and gives you foundation in self-calming and self-control, as well as basic behaviors such as 'stay' and 'come' with a little polite leash-walking thrown in for good measure!
Smart Dog Take It or Leave It helps your dog learn"take it", "leave it" and "drop it", a great foundation for helping your dog learn to share and cooperate. And because your dog has learned to pick up, take and drop items on request, this class builds a great foundation for fun games such as "fetch" and tug o'war.
Smart Dog Chilly Dog is geared to those excitable youngsters who seem to get revved up so fast and just can't calm down. In just a few hours, you'll learn a series of exercises and handling skills that will help your wild weimaraner turn into the chilliest dude around. Great for puppies and adolescents, but valuable to dogs of all ages and sizes.
